چکیده

Simulation can be defined as, " an imitation or representation, as of potential situation or in experimental testing. " It can also be defined as, " representation of the operation or features of one process or system through the use of another " [8]. Today, simulation is used for purposes ranging from work flow representation to military procedures. The question remains then-what techniques are best suited for varying simulation purposes? While object-oriented techniques are used for many types of simulation, also being explored is the use of agents in simulation. Specifically when simulating natural phenomena such as earthquakes and volcanoes, agent based simulation has proved to be successful. Traditional models have not been able to grasp the small physical processes that occur in nature which result in " catastrophes " such as volcano eruptions.

Modeling MultiAgent Systems as Self-Organized Critical Systems

The general framework of our project is to provide a computational model of physical complex processes for simulation needs. In Geophysics, the study of this kind of system has led to the concept of “Self-Organized Criticality”, to explain the “repeatability” of emergent phenomena in nature. To model Self-organized criticality within computers, the original part of the work is to propose a mult...

A Self-organized Multi Agent Decision Making System Based on Fuzzy Probabilities: The Case of Aphasia Diagnosis

Aphasia diagnosis is a challenging medical diagnostic task due to the linguistic uncertainty and vagueness, large number of measurements with imprecision, inconsistencies in the definition of Aphasic syndromes, natural diversity and subjectivity in test objects as well as in options of experts who diagnose the disease. In this paper we present a new self-organized multi agent system that diagno...

Improving the Resilience of Military Hospitals Through Self-Adaptation of Hospital Systems Using Organic Computing

Background and Aim: Among the failures of a disaster, the disruption of the critical infrastructure of the community causes the most damage to society. Therefore, the ability of critical infrastructure such as hospitals to anticipate, absorb, adapt or rapidly recover from a devastating event is essential. The purpose of this study is to design a self-adaptive model for resilient hospital system...

A multiagent urban traffic simulation. Part II: dealing with the extraordinary

— In Probabilistic Risk Management, risk is characterized by two quantities: the magnitude (or severity) of the adverse consequences that can potentially result from the given activity or action, and by the likelihood of occurrence of the given adverse consequences. But a risk seldom exists in isolation: chain of consequences must be examined, as the outcome of one risk can increase the likelih...

Applying multiagent simulation to planetary surface operations

This paper describes a multiagent modeling and simulation approach for designing cooperative systems. Issues addressed include the use of multiagent modeling and simulation for the design of human and robotic operations, as a theory for human/robot cooperation on planetary surface missions. We describe a design process for cooperative systems centered around the Brahms modeling and simulation e...
